Bye-bye Bebo?

bye-bye-bebo

Word is AOL is looking to shut down or sell off Bebo. :-(

The reasons?

- The social networking is a space with heavy competition.
- Bebo would require significant investment in order to compete in the competitive social networking space

We’ve seen a drop in interest across the site for ages – in particular, anyone looking to engage an over-15 audience there was probably having a nice conversation with themselves.

God knows we don’t want to write a post about why Bebo sucks, but thanks to the All-Leo crew, here’s what rocks about the site and what they could do better!

Things We Love:

- The Beat, The Closet, Sam King…Bebo knows how to commission compelling video content
- The Modules – a simple and straightforward way to add some nice extras to your page
- The easy-to-use Quiz function. Everyone loves a quiz.

Things We Don’t Love So Much:

- Not being able to add HTML or embed pics and videos in posts
- The limited number of apps on offer
- ADD ME!!, COOL SKINZ!!, JOIN MY GROUP!!, WATCH MY WEBCAM!! spam-fests

New site alert: Kroogi

new-site-alert-kroogi

Is this the new myspace? A ‘content community’ for artists, musicians, writers, videographers and photographers to post content for fans to download and pay for on a “pay what you want” model.

Tatu look like being one of the first ‘names’ to enter the fray with a competition to remix four tracks from album Waste Management…

Have a peek over at Kroogi.com.

Nice work, YouTube!

nice-work-youtube

If you haven’t noticed YouTube has had a makeover. Some people like it, some people don’t. It’s like Marmite but on the internet.

What is interesting is that there’s a bunch of folks in a bunker (or something) dedicated to make sense of the feedback – listen up brands, this is how things get sorted in the digital world, bad news is not the end of the world.

Read on over at Mashable.
